Make Content Creation Easier (and Feel More Like You) With These 4 Tips

butterfly flying to an outreached hand in black and white

The idea of spontaneity and creativity is fascinating to me. It’s definitely something I want to explore further and talk more about. This topic is also something that comes up in Gold a lot – the idea of creation not being timed to the clock, but always right on time. In this post we dive into how I’ve discovered a way of making content creation easier, and more aligned.

(the new launch is coming soon btw = subtle changes are coming 👀!)

And for that to happen, we have to create the conditions for ‘right on time’ to happen.

Often you’ll have an idea in mind, or you’ll have 10 listed in your themes dash, but when it comes to the scheduled time to “create content” … you just don’t do it.

It’s like you’re frozen in time and wading through mud. You could force yourself to do it, but that doesn’t feel good either. Another week goes by and you still haven’t produced. It’s not that you don’t want to — but it can be that the giant list of opportunities feels too long and makes you freeze… or it can be that you don’t know what to say…

Here’s what I do to break past these barriers:

Takeaway 1:

The best way to uncover topics you want to speak about URL is to have actual social irl conversations and listen to the responses you think, but also feel.

There’s a little goldmine of wisdom to be found in making friends on the internet. That might look like joining masterminds or communities, going to IRL events, or having chats with your peers. The common factor? = L I V E + LISTEN

Hold your ear to the shell and see what comes up 🐚

Takeaway 2:

My second tip is to leave space in your daily schedule for spontaneous creation — so that when you are feeling revved up by an idea, you can get pen to paper or hop to screen there and then, versus waiting ‘til later and ‘adding’ the idea on a to-do list.

This is huge for me. If I feel the motion in the ocean, it’s important for me to move on it there and then, otherwise it may lose it’s potency later down the line. The longer it becomes a to-do item, the less animate and true to the moment it becomes.

You don’t need to finish the whole thing straight away; take the pressure off — just start and do one thing at a time. Show your system that it’s ok for it not be finished or perfect. it’s ok to start small.

Takeaway 3:

Do not create the whole thing in one sitting.

The overwhelm with reels appears when you’re faced with an entire set of to-dos. This reel and this reel, were made in chunks, with gaps of time and space between. No need to grind something out in one day, no matter what the ‘day rate’ folks say.

Screw that.

Instead, open an afternoon your schedule to film for fun, without thinking about the next step. This way, you no longer have to worry about “forgetting to film your real life.” It becomes a joyful thing to do, (who doesn’t love baking on a Wednesday? And knowing it’s serving a purpose makes it sweeter.)

I simply don’t want to film “as I go” — this is taking me away from being present.

Takeaway 4:

My final tip is to keep it joyful — remembering that this is your space and any topic that is important to you has a space here, whilst also finding the sweet spot with what your people care about too.

As soon as I started to see content as a place of creation versus performance, it felt so much freer — and it brought me back to true creation. Inside gold, you’ll have access to my Tree of Life method for creating content.
