Nottingham Trent Uni Degree Show

Last week, Philippa and I visited the Nottingham Trent University graphic design show on their VIP, Industry open day. They sent us a fancy golden ticket in the post in a pattern tube, so how could we not?!

The theme for this years festival was ‘All Sorts’ - like the sweets. What made this extra cute was the sweetie jars placed in the entrance upon arrival, with wee striped candy bags on-hand to store sweets AND aptly sized student leaflets. (Good measuring guys - they fit like a glove)

When in front of a buffet, of any kind, I find self control and politeness tricky. Not gonna lie, I FILLED my baggy with sweets. (Soft ones only... not a hard boiled fan.)

What I enjoyed about this show in particular was that each student had their own ‘booth,’ as it were, which they could decorate, design and fluff up however they wanted. Nice little touch adding personal jars of sweets on there too. Each student had been asked to pick what sweet they represent, a sickly touch, it worked well.

We stayed for yet another buffet, this time; top-tier sandwiches and other buffet items. 10/10 kind - the humous had real chickpeas on top and the sandwiches were stacked three trays deep and two high. My favourite was the Indian egg and mango chutney delight. We stayed for the ceremonious presentations afterwards then tootled back to the train (stopping via cafe Coco Tang for a Vietnamese iced ca phe.)

I was on the lookout for anything that caught my eye. I've included some from Furniture Design too because they’re LUSH! (even though they technically weren't on the All Sorts menu.)

The pieces that that tickled my fancy as we perused, in a sugar laden state are below…
