How to Hit Your 2026 Goals by Slowing Down with Precision

butterfly in black and white

The success you’ll find in 2026 doesn’t arrive from taking part in an end of year visionary planning workshop.

We’re so used to forcing momentum as founders. Looking it straight in the eye, daring not to blink in order to make our dreams come true. We talk about “ending strong” and “starting fast” and creating a plan for the new year like it’s now or never. But nature doesn’t work like that.

What if the plan, is different?

At this time of year you’re probably tired and also feeling the sense of retreat. Like a fluffy squirrel hibernating through the winter. We aren’t separate from nature, even though we like to pretend we’re special. But it can feel uncomfortable. Unsettling, to take your foot of the pedal and sit still for once, after being in creator energy all year. In ‘go go go’ mode. In action. (I am that person too.) So when the time comes to pull back, it can feel like an alien concept.

So, here’s a different perspective:

I’m in my ‘bow and arrow’ cycle of my business.

This is why you’ll see me on instagram, less, at the moment.

I’m going inward.
Pulling back.
Choosing not to do a big end of year this or that.

Choosing not to make a song and dance about it all.

I’m not ‘doing less’ per se – I’m still working. But I’m collecting my energy instead of giving it away. I’m being discerning with how I use it.

Here’s why:

Before the arrow is released, it’s pulled back in the bow. It doesn’t need to move forward in that moment – the arrow’s focus is to aim…. to remain steady, and still, despite all of the distractions and noises that surround it. The arrow’s focus, before it is released; is to build it’s kinetic energy. So that it hits the target, gracefully. with ease. with precision. 🏹 I am in the that cycle. Choosing to aim.

To stay focused. Getting really, really, precise. I’m quietly observing the chaotic energy on threads. I’m watching everyone else do the most on instagram. Meanwhile, I collect what I need.

So that when I release the arrow next year, all of that momentum is channelled exactly and specifically towards my target with all of that kinetic energy that I have gathered. In a time/space where the path is cleared and the voices… quieter.

There’s a strength in knowing when to stride ahead, and when to lean back. It comes with self trust.
Don’t get me wrong, I have been that person to frantically do more before Christmas, as though the clock had a chokehold on my success. Not true, though, is it? And so, if you’re feeling the inspiration to hermit a bit and go inward.

I want you to decide that it’s not laziness, or a ‘fear of visibility’ …it’s wisdom.

Don’t be afraid to hold your arrow, steady.

Steady wins the race.

The Activity

Create your Bow and Arrow List

To reframe steadiness as a choice:

Draw 2 columns on your page:

Side A:
Instead of a to-do list, make a list of things you’re choosing not to do right now.

↑ This is you, pulling the arrow back in the bow.

Side B:
Where will this energy be diverted to next?

↑ This is where your arrow will go when you release it.

Got it?

Let’s go! (actually, not yet. 👀)
