What got you to your first six figures was strong work ethic, word of mouth, and probably saying yes to most things and spinning lots of offers at once.
You were scrappy. Agile You made it easy for people to work with you in lots of ways and you cared deeply. And it worked. The snowball effect en-route to that coveted £7000 per month (or 10k, in USD) is no joke.
That kind of momentum slaps harder than Justin Bieber’s 2015 Purpose album. (IYKYK – reply with a 🍐 if you know what I mean?)
Here’s what I know after mentoring creatives since 2020 – and after guiding myself through ✨the levels.✨
The things that got you to six figures will not SUSTAIN your second.
Read it again
I’m not scaremongering, just speaking to the facts. (because, I’ve lived the plateau.) I mean, those things will probably GET you there, but sustaining is different ✨new level new devil✨ 👹 My BIGGEST lesson as a multi hyphenate-business owner who leverages various revenue streams?
drum roll…. 🥁 messaging.
But most often creators get too caught on creating more content or tweaking the offering, or adding more offers when actually they just need stronger more precise messaging to make more sales.
it’s funny because when I first started I barely tried to have a message – I just said what I thought and what I cared about. My first ever masterclass was called “How to influence process and stand out in the sea of same.” It’s [here](https://vimeo.com/456498145?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci) if you want to see it – PLEASE NOTE IT’S FROM 2020. That’s 6 years ago 💀 All aboard to cringe city – destination CRINGE. anyway: the sea of same, and not following the crowd became my MESSAGE.
But when you go for gold and you want to GROW your potential, you need more INTENT in those words.
I was winging it for a long time. and it worked.
But how far will winging it and flying by the seat of your pants get you? you need to have a line in the sand that separates you from the sea of same. (^ the sea of same : she lives on! 🪽🦋)
That’s why I’m hiring a Copy Coach to help you inside GOLD.
So that you can get advice on what to say and how to say it and become the obvious option for your people.
When I hear “sales are slow” – your symptom, often its the following problems that I diagnose:
〰️ You’re hiding behind “What I do” statements make it about you, not them.
〰️ You’re being too floaty – confusing depth with poetry and clarity with being basic.
〰️ You’re gripping onto polished and professional to “fit in” and losing your personality in the process.
〰️ You’ve chased cLaRiTy so hard, you’ve drained the spark of out of your voice. Safe messaging feels safe but it doesn’t always feel safe to buy from.
〰️ You’re tip-toeing around – and missing the chance to build the kind of brand presence that holds real power and equity.
Or maybe, you’re not marketing at all??
That last phrase – power and equity – might sound hard or masculine. I’d invite you to think of it differently. It’s the yang to your yin. The fire beneath the softness. You need both in your communication to hold your space – not one or the other, but both, always, at the right time.
Think: Friction and Flavour.
Two things I share inside GOLD. Friction is what makes someone stop. It’s turning the right people on — and the wrong ones off, quickly. It’s speaking to an idea and a way of life, not just a service. Flavour is the inflection. The tonality. The feeling evoked through the specific words you choose. The way a sentence can carry weight, warmth, or wildness — simply by being worded your way. Let me show you what that looks like in practice:
🍯 example: Graphic Designer working in impact and change
Before, boring, sea of same: “Branding for visionary founders with purpose.” ↓
Confident, Clear, Strong: 🪞 “We create profound global impact with brands who see change as the only option.”
Cheeky, Playful, Bold: 🪞 “We back brands who actually give a damn – shaking up the status quo and proving change doesn’t have to be boring.”
🍯 example: Ads Manager, with a quirky and outdoorsy brand:
Before, boring, sea of same: “Helping businesses grow with Facebook ads and an optimised funnel.” ↓
Confident, Clear, Strong: 🪞 “We drive growth results for brands ready for their audience to grow wild.”
Cheeky, Playful, Bold: 🪞 “Forget dusty campaigns — our ads bloomin’ stop the scroll indoors and outdoors.”
Do you feel the difference? They aren’t more salesy. They just have more to say.
So, inside GOLD, because I know that messaging will make or break your next revenue plateau, I’m bringing in a copy coach.
You’ll have access to me, and the copy coach, and alllll of the GOLD toolkits, so you can close the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
