Value-based pricing never really felt natural or easy for me. Money mindset or not, it just didn’t really align with my personality. And although I pushed through the uncomfortable-ness to get projects booked, I noticed a shift in 2022. People just weren’t booking as easily as they did before. And I was doing SO many sales calls! I was tired of the whole process and knew something needed to change in a big way. Not just so that I could book more clients, but feel better about HOW I was doing it.

I was really shocked at how much the client loved the idea of paying for the proposal. I really expected them to push back on that more, especially if they got a free proposal from someone else. But I really didn’t need to do much “selling”, they instantly understood that this approach was different and they were actually excited to pay for the proposal!
Definitely the group calls. It’s just nice to brainstorm with other designers, get feedback in real time and know that we’re all struggling with the same things.

After everyone has enrolled, I’ll poll timezones and create a consistent meeting time that works for the majority. I can’t guarantee a perfect match as it does depend on the locations of all enrolees.
